Don Quixote
The Lyric Theatre
April 19 - 21, 2024
Magic City Performing Arts presents Don Quixote, a vibrant and colorful ballet that tells the story of a gentleman named Don Quixote and his faithful friend, Sancho Panza, as they embark on a journey filled with excitement, romance, and humor. In this kid-friendly production, audiences are transported to 17th-century Barcelona where they meet the idealistic Don Quixote, who dreams of becoming a brave knight and righting the world's wrongs. Along the way, they encounter a cast of lively characters, including our headstrong leading lady, Kitri, her beloved Basillio, a band of gypsies, Knights in Shining Armor, dancing Dryads, and so much more. With dazzling choreography, enchanting music, and imaginative sets, Don Quixote is a delightful ballet that celebrates the power of friendship, forbidden love, chivalry, and chasing your dreams. Magic City Performing Arts presents a cast of over 100 local community dancers and features guest principal artists Patricia Bianco (Alabama Ballet) as the captivating Kitri and Luis Victor Santana González (Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico) as Kitri’s forbidden love, Basillio. Also featuring guest artists Jolie Rose Lombardo (Stuttgart Ballet), Bryn Warren Davis (Alabama Ballet) as Dulcinea, Jenna Graham (Alabama Ballet), Anna Gardner Herren (Community Arts Tokyo, Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre) as Chief Dryad, and Brandon Mitchell as Don Quixote (Arova Contemporary Ballet).
